NEW YORK (AP) -- It's not the Heisman Trophy -- but it tastes a lot better. Heisman winner Robert Griffin III has a new honor. It's a statue of him, made from barbecue chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and chili peppers. It was unveiled yesterday at a Subway sandwich shop in Manhattan. The former Baylor quarterback says it's pretty "cool" but he's not sure how much it actually looks like him. Tomorrow, R-G-3 is expected to be drafted by the Washington Redskins as the number-two overall pick.
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- Fight! Over Earth Day! Police in Muncie, Indiana, report having to step between two women in a dust-up over littering. The officers tell the Star Press they saw a 44-year-old woman punching a 23-year-old in the face. It seems the older woman took offense when the younger woman tossed a piece of paper on the ground. It was Earth Day. Police say the women refused orders to separate. Both are charged with disorderly conduct. The older woman also faces preliminary charges of battery and resisting arrest.
MATH TEST ERRORS
NEW YORK (AP) -- They're math tests -- that don't add up. New York state education officials admit there are errors on two standardized math tests. The state's third- through eighth-graders have three days of math exams this week. One question on the fourth grade test has two right answers. There's one on the test for eighth-graders that doesn't have a correct answer. Education Department officials say the goofs are typos and the questions won't count. But critics of standardized testing say the developers should get an "F" -- just a like a student who flunks.
JUDGE CANDIDATE-SNAKE BITE
SEARCY, Ark. (AP) -- It's a snakebit campaign for an Arkansas candidate. Bill Haynie noticed that one of his campaign signs had fallen over. So, he stopped his car to fix it. But when Haynie reached down, he was bitten by a snake Sunday. He's now out of a hospital, but Haynie tells The Daily Citizen he still has some pain and swelling. He doesn't know what kind of snake bite him. Haynie is running for county judge in White County. It's an executive position, like a mayor. He's challenging incumbent Michael Lincoln in the May 22 Republican primary.
DOGS SAVE OWNER
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Middle Tennessee man credits his little canine buddies with saving him from a fire. Doyce Mitchell says his three Jack Russell terriers raised a ruckus early the other morning. He awoke to find his mobile home ablaze. Mitchell tells the Shelbyville Times Gazette he would be dead if it wasn't for his three "boys." The fire started in an electrical box mounted on an outside wall. The mobile home was gutted by the fire.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Finding a parking space in Manhattan is tough enough. Imagine trying get the space shuttle into the Big Apple? The retired shuttle Enterprise will be going on display at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. It will be placed on the flight deck of the former aircraft carrier turned museum. But a pilot won't have to worry about landing on the ship. The Enterprise will arrive by barge, after being flown piggy-back on a Boeing 747 to Kennedy Airport. Weather delayed the arrival of the Enterprise, which is now due in New York Friday.
