Portions of Beltline, I-94 Closed on Thursday
Department of Transportation announces closures of different sections of Beltline in Madison and I-94 in Jefferson County on Thursday.

Information from the Department of Transportation:

The westbound Beltline (US 12/18) will have a single lane closure Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. between the Mud Lake bridge and South Towne Drive.

A single lane closure will also occur between South Towne and John Nolan Drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Maintenance crews will be making pavement repairs. Motorists are advised to slow down and be vigilant for temporary work zones.

Eastbound I-94 will have a single lane closure at mile marker 255, Jefferson County, Thursday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Westbound I-94 will have a single lane closure at the County P bridge, Jefferson County, Thursday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The DOT advises motorists to slow down and be vigilant for temporary work zones.

I think it would be easier to see the workers and their bright vests in the daytime instead of in the dark. And paying workers to work in the day costs less than paying them to work at night. In this economy, money has to be saved where it can. As a taxpayer, I appreciate that they do this during the day which is a much more prudent use of my tax dollars.

Why can't this work be done at night to avoid traffic delays and backups? I also wonder if it wouldn't be safer for the workers also? Sounds like a win/win situation.
