Release from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources:

BARABOO – A boil water advisory has been lifted for residents of Bluffview, located along U.S. 12 in Sauk County about seven miles south of Baraboo, the state Department of Natural Resources reported Thursday afternoon.

The advisory was rescinded after a second round of safe water samples were reported to DNR by the State Laboratory of Hygiene in Madison, said DNR water supply engineer Dave Barkhahn, Horicon.

“Two rounds of three samples were collected this week from the distribution system and all samples were reported to be safe. It appears that chlorination was effective in eliminating the coliform bacteria from the water system. Three more samples will be collected next week,” noted Barkhahn.

The boil water advisory had been in effect since July 8 after water samples had indicated the presence of coliform bacteria. While coliform bacteria are not generally harmful themselves, they are an indicator that other, potentially harmful bacteria may be present.
