Overture Center Announces New Dates for

Billy Elliot the Musical

Broadway Hit Will Play Overture Hall JUL 10 – 15, 2012

MADISON, WI (August 30, 2011) – Overture Center for the Arts today announced that Billy Elliot the Musical will play an eight-show run at Overture Hall July 10 – 15, 2012. The show, originally scheduled for September 21 - October 2, 2011, remains part of the 2011/12 Broadway at Overture subscription season. Following a brief hiatus, the producers of Billy Elliot the Musical have restructured their tour schedule.

"It’s never easy to reschedule a weeklong engagement, to say nothing of a nationwide tour,” said Overture Center President and CEO Tom Carto. “It’s not easy to ask our patrons to wait. But Billy Elliot is worth it, and then some. Billy is such an inspiring young character, and there's a sense of community in this show that I think audiences in Madison will really identify with and appreciate. We're in for a treat next summer."

Billy Elliot the Musical is a joyous celebration of one young boy’s journey to make his dreams come true based on the smash-hit independent film of the same name with music by the legendary Elton John. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising passion that inspires his family and his whole community. On Broadway, the show won ten 2009 Tony® Awards including Best Musical and won praise from fans and critics alike, including Ben Brantley of The New York Times who called Billy Elliot, "the most inspiring show I've seen in years."

Overture Center's subscribers and group clients have been notified with the rescheduled dates via email, and will receive their tickets for Billy Elliot the Musical at a later date.

Single tickets for Billy Elliot the Musical will go on sale to the general public on October 22, 2011. Sales will begin at the Overture Center ticket office at 10 am, and online at overturecenter.com or by phone at 608.258.4141 at 11 am. Tickets are available now as part of the 2011/12 Broadway at Overture Subscription.
