Air Conditioning This is an appliance that is designed to modify air temperature, generally cooling it down and also reducing the humidity of the air processed through the system. Since drier air aids evaporative cooling, it improves the comfort of people. Willis Haviland Carrier invented air conditioning sometime around 1902.
