BRANDON, Iowa (AP) -- Authorities say they're buffaloed by the crash of a banana truck in eastern Iowa.

The semitrailer loaded with bananas hit a buffalo on Interstate 380 near Brandon about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Crates of bananas ended up on the road.

Benton County Sheriff Randy Forsyth says there were two buffaloes on the road. He says one was sideswiped by a car while the other was hit by the semi.

The accidents happened about the same time.

Forsyth says the buffalo hit by the car apparently survived and ran off. The one hit by the truck was killed.

No people were injured.

Forsyth says officials don't know where the buffaloes came from, or what happened to the one that took off.
