MADISON, Wis., -- After a series sweep of St. Cloud State at home last weekend, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team has propelled to No. 2 in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll, the organization announced on Monday.
The ranking is the highest for UW since the beginning of the 2012-13 season, when the Badgers checked in at No. 2 in the preseason poll. Wisconsin was ranked No. 4 in last week’s poll.
Minnesota remains at the top of the poll earning all 15 first-place votes and 150 points. UW earned 119 points, while Cornell is third with 116 points. Boston College earned 112 points, while Clarkson checked in at No. 5 with 89 points. WCHA-rival North Dakota fell two spots to No. 6 after a series split with No. 10 Ohio State.
The Badgers continue their six-game homestand this weekend, hosting non-conference opponent Lindenwood at LaBahn Arena. The Badgers and Lady Lions faceoff on Friday in a 7 p.m. tilt before wrapping up the series on Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest.
