Badgers Blanked at Minnesota State

MANKATO, Minn. – An scoreless power play on six chances two power-play goals by Minnesota State (7-16-1, 3-12-1 WCHA) resulted in a 3-0 defeat by Wisconsin men’s hockey (10-10-2, 5-9-2 WCHA) on Saturday at Verizon Wireless Center.

The Badgers had their chances, but MSU goaltender Phil Cook stopped 32 shots to blank the Badgers and put a stop to sophomore forward Mark Zengerle’s 20-game point scoring streak.

MSU scored two first-period power-play goals and added a late empty-net tally for the margin of victory.

Sophomore forward Mark Zengerle has his 20-game point-scoring streak snapped, falling one shy of current head coach Mike Eaves’ school record. Zengerle had nine goals and 33 points during the streak.

Joel Rumpel stopped 29 of 31 shots face, but fell to 7-5-2 on the season
