MADISON, Wis. – The season for the University of Wisconsin volleyball team came to a close on Friday night with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-19 loss to No. 8 Purdue in the UW Field House. The Badgers finish the season 16-16 overall and tied for eighth in the Big Ten Conference at 8-12. UW will not qualify for post-season play as they do not have an overall record above .500.
Freshman Ellen Chapman led the Badgers with nine kills while freshman Courtney Thomas added seven kills.
Purdue’s Ariel Turner led all players with 18 kills as the Boilermakers hit .324 as a team, compared to .124 for the Badgers.
Sophomore Annemarie Hickey led all players with 18 digs while senior Janelle Gabrielsen added 11 digs.
Hickey finishes the season as the Big Ten leader in digs per set with 4.77, which ranks third on the UW season record list.
