Ex-Badger Geoffrion called up from AHL by Canadiens

Posted-February 27th, 2012 10:48 pm

MONTREAL (AP) -- Blake Geoffrion is finally getting a chance to wear the red, white and blue of the Montreal Canadiens.

Geoffrion was recalled from the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs on Monday and will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay.

The 24-year-old left wing had two goals and six assists in five games with the Bulldogs since being acquired in a trade with Nashville on Feb. 17. He had three assists in 22 games with Nashville this season.

Geoffrion is the fourth generation of his family to play for the Canadiens. His great grandfather was Hall of Famer Howie Morenz. His paternal grandfather was Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, another NHL Hall of Famer, who spent 14 seasons with the Canadiens between 1950 and 1964.

Geoffrion's father, Dan, played a season with the Habs.
