MADISON, Wis. -- For the second time this year, Wisconsin softball third baseman Michelle Mueller has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The La Crosse, Wis., native, hit .714 last week and knocked in four runs as the Badgers swept Purdue, extending Wisconsin’s winning streak to 13 games, matching the program’s longest streak.
In Wisconsin’s 2-1 series-opening win against the Boilermakers, Mueller hit her 11th home run of the year and drove in both of the Badgers’ runs. In Friday’s nightcap, Mueller collected a hit, RBI and run as UW rallied to defeat Purdue, 6-5. The Badgers’ third baseman added a pair of hits and tallied her 49th RBI of the season in Wisconsin’s 7-3 triumph on Senior Day.
During the Badgers’ winning streak, Mueller is hitting .432 with seven home runs, 26 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.081.
Mueller and the Badgers host No. 19 Nebraska on Wednesday in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Goodman Diamond. The game will also be shown live on BTN.
