The agent for unrestricted free agent defenseman Ryan Suter, a Madison native and a top target of the Detroit Red Wings, among other teams, told the Detroit Free Press that his client is making progress but won't be rushed.

The former Wisconsin Badger Ryan Suter scored seven goals and had 39 assists last season with the Nashville Predators.

General manager Ken Holland flew into Madison Tuesday and met with Suter at his off-season home. A short time after they left Minnesota Wild officials along with Suter agent also left Madison after meeting with the 27 year odl defenseman.

The Wings made an offer of $80 million over 13 years to Suter on Sunday, and have since increased the money to $90 million according to the Free Press.

Suter also is being courted by his former team, Nashville, as well as Philadelphia and Minnesota. His agent, Neil Sheehy, told the Free Press, "a decision is forthcoming," but it didn't come Tuesday.

"For a young man who is looking to commit to 13 years, I find it strange that people expect him to make a decision within hours or days," Sheehy said. "Everything needs to be carefully considered.."

The Wings, along with Minnesota, Pittsburgh & Chicago are believed to be in bidding for fellow free agent Zach Praise. The for UND star & New Jersey Devils captain has said he is talking with Suter through this process. Some think they may be part of package deal for one of these teams.

Parise's agent, Wade Arnott, told the Free Press this afternoon that they were still "in decision-making mode."

Parise said Tuesday that he hadn't made a decision and doesn't have a timetable for one soon after landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

"I'm back here to talk with my family and make sure that we've done all the work that we need to do make sure we make the right decision," Parise told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis. "It's been a stressful couple days."
