MADISON, Wis. – The 2012 Wisconsin football season kicks off in a little less than four months but anticipation is already building. Last week, the Big Ten announced the Badgers would be playing two prime time games. On Thursday, the conference announced three more start times for league games, including the highly-anticipated Homecoming showdown with Michigan State.
The Badgers and Spartans, who played two instant-classic games last year, including UW’s 42-39 victory in the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game, will meet in Madison on Oct. 27. The game will start at 2:30 p.m. and be televised nationally by ABC.
The start time for Wisconsin’s Big Ten home-opener was announced as well. UW hosts Illinois on Oct. 6, also at 2:30 p.m. on ABC. It will be the Illini’s first visit to Camp Randall since 2008. Illinois has not won in Madison since 2002.
The following week, Oct. 13, the Badgers will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to take on Purdue. That game, which is the Boilermakers’ Homecoming contest, will start at 11 a.m. CT and be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or BTN. UW is unbeaten in West Lafayette since 1997.
