Boulder, CO - Wisconsin improves to 2-4 with a 71-61 win over Montana State at the Colorado Omni Classic in Boulder, Colo. A tied score, 42-42, with 10:39 remaining was as close as the Bobcats came, as the Badgers never relinquished the lead.
Taylor Wurtz recorded a season-high 26 points, just one point off her career high. The junior guard has recorded double-digit scoring in all six games this season. She was just one rebound off of her third double-double of the year. She was 5-of-10 from 3-point range, tying a career-high 3-pointers made.
Cassie Rochel scored a career-high 14 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. The 6-4 sophomore recorded her first career double-double in a career-high 32 minutes on the court.
Along with Wurtz and Rochel, Ashley Thomas and Morgan Paige record double-digit scoring performances. Thomas netted 10 points, while Paige recorded 11.
Tonight’s game marked the first time this season that UW has had a lead going into halftime as the Badgers were up, 30-23.
Wisconsin plays the winner of Colorado/Valparaiso in the championship game at 8:30 (CT) on Saturday evening.
