MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women’s hockey team will host 16 games at newly constructed La Bahn Arena for the upcoming season, with the home opener set for Oct. 19.
The Badgers open the 2012-13 season with a trip to conference rival Minnesota State on Sept 28-29.
After hosting Lindenwood last year for its first games as a NCAA Division I program, the Lady Lions will host the Badgers for a pair of games in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 5-6. Wisconsin will remain on the road, traveling to Minnesota Duluth the following weekend, for a two-game series beginning Oct. 13.
After a long anticipated wait, the Badgers will play their first game in La Bahn Arena on Oct. 19. Due to the football game against Minnesota on Oct. 20, the Bemidji State finale will be played on Sunday Oct. 21 at La Bahn Arena.
Wisconsin remains at home, breaking in the new building with a nonconference series against New Hampshire, on Oct. 26 & 28. The Badgers will finish their regular-season series early against Minnesota State on Nov. 3-4.
During the Nov. 10-12 weekend, the majority of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association will be idle due to the Four Nations Cup taking place in Vantaa, Finland.
UW resumes play on Nov. 16-17 with a trip to Ohio State, with both games being played in Schottenstein Center. St. Cloud State travels to Madison the following weekend, Nov. 23-24, for a series in La Bahn Arena.
The Badgers will finish the 2012 portion of the schedule with a trip to Minnesota, Dec. 1-2, before returning home to host North Dakota, Dec. 8-9.
After a month’s rest, Wisconsin will return to the ice in the new year with a home series against Ohio State, Jan. 11-12.
UW closes out January with a trip to North Dakota, Jan. 18-19, before returning home to host Minnesota, Jan. 26-27.
A trip to St. Cloud State is on the docket for Feb. 8-9. The final home series of the year sees Minnesota Duluth visiting Madison, Feb. 16-17. The Badgers then travel to Bemidji State to close out the regular season.
The first round of the 2013 WCHA Playoffs will be held March 1-3, in the similar best-of-three format with the higher seed hosting.
The 2013 WCHA Final Face-Off will be held at Ridder Arena at the University of Minnesota on March 8-9.
NCAA regionals being played the following weekend, March 15-17, with the higher seed hosting. The 2013 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four will held on March 22 & 24 at Ridder Arena.
