Sun Prairie survives West's late push to win 14-12

The Sun Prairie Cardinals found themselves in an early hole in their first game of the season, but rallied to top Madison West 14-12.

The Regents scored first behind new quarterback Terrell McFadden. McFadden ran in a touchdown from 21 yards out to put West up 6-0 after a failed two-point conversion.

Sun Prairie's offense would strike back behind the arm of Ryan Curran. The Cardinals quarterback connected with Tripp Soma for a 24 yard gain to move into West territory. Noah Diaz capped off the drive with a 10 yard touchdown run to put Sun Prairie up 7-6.

Curran and the Cardinals would hit paydirt again to start the second quarter. He connected with Michael Marchese for a 10 yard touchdown pass to put Sun Prairie on top 14-6.

Sun Prairie hosts Verona next Friday.

West travels to Janesville Craig for their second game of the season.
