MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers are both in the playoff picture, but only San Diego looked like it in last night's game at Miller Park. While the Padres were building a 9-2 lead, the Brewers committed five errors, their most in a game in eight years, and failed to gain any ground on the first-place Chicago Cubs in the Central Division race. The Padres beat the Brewers 9-5.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Chris Capuano is subbing for Ben Sheets as the Milwaukee starter in tonight's game with the Padres. Sheets has a hamstring injury but says he's available to pitch an inning of relief if needed. Brewers manager Ned Yost also will be back tonight. He sat out last night's game to serve a one-game suspension for arguing with an umpire earlier this week.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two Big Ten rivals put their unbeaten records on the line tomorrow, when Wisconsin hosts Michigan State. The ninth-ranked Badgers have a 13-game winning streak, second longest in school history and longest active streak in the nation. The Spartans are trying to break into the Associated Press Top 25, and make Mark Dantonio the first MSU coach to win his first five games.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packer running back Vernand Morency could soon be back in action. Morency was expected to be the team's first-string back before he suffered an injury on the first day of training camp. Coach Mike McCarthy says Morency has less soreness in his knee after practicing this week, so he's hopeful he will be able to play in Sunday's game at Minnesota.
