Thursday Wisconsin Sports UPDATE

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre knows there's a pretty simple countermove that defensive coordinators can make to slow down the Green Bay Packers' short passing game. In fact, Favre says the Packers already are beginning to see it, with cornerbacks playing closer to the line of scrimmage to bump and run with Packers wide receivers, making it harder for them to run their routes. But Favre says the more he sees press coverage from cornerbacks at the line, the better chance he has of making a big play.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre is NFC offensive player of the week. He set the NFL career touchdown pass record in Sunday's victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Favre also won the same award in the second week of the season.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Devin Hester of the Chicago Bears set the NFL record with six touchdown returns as a rookie last season, and he's not stopping this year. He already has returned the ball for touchdowns twice, and he's been chosen NFC special teams player of the month. He'll get his next opportunity to score when the Bears play the Green Bay Packers Sunday.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Yi Jianlian is due for his first workout with the Milwaukee Bucks today. He arrived in Chicago yesterday, only to be mobbed by fans. The 6-foot-11 power forward and sixth pick of the NBA draft arrived on a direct flight from Shanghai just before 4 p.m. at O'Hare International Airport and received a loud ovation by the crowd.
