Bagder Women's Hockey Ties NCAA Unbeaten Streak Record

Junior Erika Lawler and freshman Hilary Knight each tallied two points as the No. 1 Wisconsin women’s hockey team defeated Robert Morris 3-1 at the Kohl Center Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to 30 games and tie the NCAA division I women’s record.

The Badgers (4-0-0 overall), who got goals from three different players
including freshman Malee Windmeier (Champlin, Minn.), played in front of
the seventh-largest crowd in Kohl Center women’s hockey history as
2,043 fans came out for the final portion of Wisconsin’s Hockey Night
at the Rink.

Wisconsin held its opponents scoreless for the first 236:51 of the
2007-08 season, nearly 100 minutes longer than the previous best in
program history. The Badgers did not allow a goal for the first 139:34
of the 2003-04 season.

The Badgers will look to break the record for the longest unbeaten
streak in Division I women’s hockey history next weekend as they play
host to Ohio State Saturday and Sunday at the Kohl Center. The puck is
set to drop at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
