Packers' Wells to miss at least one game with eye fracture

Packers center Scott Wells will miss at least one game and two weeks after being poked in the eye against the Bears.

Coach Mike McCarthy says Wells has a fracture of his orbital bone in his eye after he got poked on a third-down play. It's not clear from the tape who poked the starter in Green Bay's 27-20 loss to the Bears.

But after Wells departed, Jason Spitz took over at center. Spitz is expected to start against Washington on Sunday and the Packers have a bye week before playing at Denver.

McCarthy says Green Bay's slow offense on the final series was plagued by miscommunication. He did not pin the problems on the lack of Wells, but said the Packers need to work to be crisper in those situations.
