MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The wife of the late Max McGee says there was no other man like him. The former Green Bay receiver died yesterday after falling from the roof of his Minneapolis area home, where he was blowing off leaves. He was 75. Denise McGee says he never had a bad day because he always found humor in every situation. The couple founded the Max McGee National Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 1999.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin's defense had lost its confidence. The Badgers lost two straight, and the unit that was one of the stingiest in the country looked like a porous version of years past through the first seven games. Things changed quickly after an attitude adjustment and a dominant half. The Badgers had allowed only 1 yard midway through the second quarter and went on to their best performance of the season so far with a 44-3 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday. The win pushed them to a 6-and-2 record and back into the rankings at Number 25.
