Wednesday Wisconsin Sports UPDATE

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre's two long touchdown passes in an overtime win at Denver got all the attention, but the Green Bay Packers may have found something at least as important with the success of the running game against the Broncos. The Packers beat the Broncos Monday night when Favre hit Greg Jennings for an 82-yard TD on the first play of overtime. But after relying on the pass their first six games, the 6-and-1 Packers had their first balanced offensive attack of the year, running 28 pass plays and 27 runs.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- An injury has ended DeShawn Wynn's season, while Koren Robinson's could begin Sunday when the Green Bay Packers play at Kansas City. The Packers activated Robinson and made room by placing Wynn, their leading rusher, on season-ending injured reserve. Coach Mike McCarthy says Wynn has "a significant shoulder injury."

CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Two names well-known to Green Bay Packers fans are on a preliminary list of 124 nominees for induction next year in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Among the defensive backs nominated for the honor is former Packers safety LeRoy Butler. And among those nominated as contributors to the sport is longtime Packers president Bob Harlan.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers report that closer Francisco Cordero is one of five players who have filed for free agency. General manager Doug Melvin says the team's top free agent priority is keeping Cordero, who converted 44 saves this season. Also filing for free agency were relievers Ray King and Scott Linebrink, third baseman Corey Koskie and catcher Damian Miller.
