The Wisconsin men’s basketball team opened its season with a 77-48 exhibition win over Edgewood College. Freshman Jon Leuer (Long Lake, Minn.) led the Badgers in scoring with 15 points in just 15 minutes of action.
The game marked the first time that the two schools have played, and with the win, Wisconsin improved to 43-4 all-time in exhibition games, including 30 straight wins.
UW’s Joe Krabbenhoft had 11 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Trevon Hughes pitched in 11 points and six rebounds. Leuer finished the night shooting 6-of-7 from the field and also notched two assists and a steal in his Badger debut. Fellow freshmen, Keaton Nankivil and Tim Jarmusz ended the night with two points a piece.
The Badgers will play their final exhibition contest this Wednesday, Nov. 7 as they host UW-Eau Claire at the Kohl Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
