EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Mark Murphy says his family is transitioning and it's hectic. He's more than a week away from taking over as president and chief executive officer of the Green Bay Packers. He's leaving his job as athletic director at Northwestern University and says it's a busy time, especially with the holidays. He says his family still has to buy a house -- and they're looking at De Pere. Murphy says he and his daughter Anna will attend Sunday's game against the Bears at Soldier Field. He starts his new job January 2nd.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Yi Jianlian is fitting in as a successful rookie in Milwaukee. The 7-footer selected sixth overall is starting at power forward and averaging a little over 10 points and five rebounds a game. Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak says he can't imagine a better transition. Yi, who acknowledged at the start that he put too much pressure on himself, is also getting more comfortable with his surroundings. His parents are living in Milwaukee to help him adjust.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Packers middle linebacker Nick Barnett suspects his reputation for occasionally playing beyond the whistle might have figured into his Pro Bowl snub this week. No matter, Barnett says, because establishing an attitude for the Packers' rebuilt defense is more important than trying to win votes from opposing players. He says he's not going to change his ways. Barnett, a first-round draft pick out of Oregon State in 2003 who became a starter as a rookie, was only a first alternate in Pro Bowl voting this year. But he might be the most valuable player on the Packers defense. Fellow Packers linebacker Brady Poppinga says he's the best in the NFL this year.
ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (AP) -- Bucks starting forward Desmond Mason will be out between six to eight weeks. He suffered a left thumb injury suffered on Wednesday night. Now the team says he'll have to undergo surgery on the injured thumb and it'll take at least six weeks to recover. He will undergo surgery on Saturday to repair a torn ligament in the thumb.
