Former Wisconsin quarterback John Stocco is going to Italy to play football this coming season.
Stocco will join the Milan Rhinos in NFL Italy and will immediately be one of the league's top players when the season starts in March. Stocco says he's excited and ready for a change of scenery. He's been living in Madison ever since his career with the Badgers ended.
Stocco tried out with the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants but didn't receive a contract. The 24-year-old Stocco says he'll be set up with an apartment next month and will also receive a small salary that hasn't been finalized yet with the team.
The competition is more like a high school or small college level since only a handful of Americans in the league are paid. The rest of players are Italians who are only compensated in food and drink and play for the love of the American sport.
