New Packers president gets started
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The New Year brings a new face to the Green Bay Packers' front office.
President Mark Murphy is on the job, but not officially in charge until a week after the Packers' season ends -- whenever that is.
Murphy met with reporters and fans in the Lambeau Field Atrium Wednesday. The former Northwestern University athletic director says he's looking forward to settling in Green Bay, rolling up his sleeves and getting to work.
Murphy has plenty on his plate. He's learning about the Packers organization, about the league, collective bargaining and revenue sharing.
Murphy met with league officials in New York last month to try to learn of any NFL changes that could be detrimental to small market teams like the Packers.
He replaces Bob Harlan, who has led the Packers organization since 1989.
