ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- An unlikely hero led the Wisconsin men's basketball team to a 70-54 victory over Michigan in Ann Arbor last night. Reserve freshman Jon Leuer scored a career-high 25 points to help 25th-ranked Wisconsin win its Big Ten opener. Marcus Landry added 19 points for Wisconsin. Trevon Hughes, the Badgers' leading scorer, returned after missing one game with an injured right ankle and scored five points.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Freshman Alyssa Karel scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, leading Wisconsin to an 84-71 victory over Michigan State in Big Ten women's basketball in Madison last night. Seniors Jolene Anderson and Janese Banks added 18 points each for the Badgers (8-5, 1-2), who led 36-32 at halftime and then pulled away to take a 72-54 advantage with about six minutes left.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Krystal Ellis shot 50 percent from 3-point range and finished with 32 points, as Marquette hung on for a 78-74 win over Western Michigan in women's basketball in Milwaukee last night. The Broncos led 74-73 when Kelly Lam hit a layup off a pass from Angel Robinson and Ellis added a basket to give Marquette a 77-74 lead.

MIAMI (AP) -- Mo Williams reminded the Miami Heat why they wanted him during the offseason, scoring 25 points with nine assists and leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 103-98 victory in Miami last night. Charlie Villanueva scored 15 points, Andrew Bogut finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Charlie Bell scored 12 for the Bucks, who snapped a four-game skid and improved to 3-15 on the road.
