Sixteen hundred hotel rooms need to be added to the area within a 40-mile radius of the Whistling Straits golf course for it to host the Ryder Cup in 2020.

The president and C-E-O of Kohler Company, Herb Kohler, says he
encourages anyone interested in upgrading a hotel or building one
in the area to do so. The area currently has 848 rooms that the P-G-A of America considers to be of acceptable quality.

The Whistling Straits announced it'll host the P-G-A
Championship in 2010 and 2015, and the Ryder Cup in 2020 if it
fulfilled the conditions.

Kohler thanked Wisconsin residents for their support during the
last P-G-A, when the Whistling Strait drew a record attendance of
320 thousand spectators.
