Favre's Football Future

Favre tells hometown paper he's leaning toward returning

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Comments Brett Favre made to his hometown newspaper indicate he's leaning toward returning to the Green Bay Packers for another season.

The Biloxi (Mississippi) Sun-Herald reports Thursday Favre says he isn't approaching Saturday's playoff game against Seattle like it will be his final game in Green Bay. He seems more optimistic than in years past about returning.

Favre's now-annual flirtation with retirement has taken on a life of its own in Wisconsin. He has taken weeks and even months in recent years to make his decision.

While it has been widely assumed that he would come back to play next season after having one of the best years of his career, Favre and Packers coach Mike McCarthy have said the quarterback would wait until after the season to address the issue.

Do you want Favre to return next season?

I am a Bears fan and I don't think he should retire. He is one the "good guys" in sports today. To say he is washed up or plays for the money is stupid. Obviously the stats show he is not washed up. How many times has he redone his contract to allow the packers to sign another player? He kinda reminds me of another great player. He went by the name of Walter Payton. By the way I do agree Melissa.

It's always the jealous ones that want to see him retire. As far as the Bears go, I'd rather be good than sometimes lucky.

And what are the Bears doing this weekend?.....oh yeah, NOTHING!!! Brett should play till they have to drag him off the field. Too many QB's say they retired too early.

I think it will help the team not to be bothered by know-nothing media types bugging everyone around about Favre's future. However NO ONE CARES what Doyle has to say about it. He's nothing but a political hack

Washed up?? What a completely stupid statement...have you seen his stats this year? Bears fan or not, you have to respect the stats....they don't lie. I hope he stays as long as he can play well, cause when he leaves we will be up a creek for a while!
