DENVER
After a heart-wrenching loss to the Pioneers on Friday night, the No. 17 University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team came back to down No. 2/3 Denver University, 7-2, at Magness Arena on Saturday night. The Badgers are now 9-10-3 overall, 5-8-1 in the WCHA after earning their first road win of the season. Denver fell to 17-5-0 and 12-4-0 in the conference.

Although DU’s offensive presence increased in the second period, the Badgers were able to go up 5-1 on the Pioneers. Assistant captain Ben Street (Coquitlam, B.C.) and Michael Davies (Chesterfield, Mo.) each collected goals for Wisconsin in the period. Matthew Ford (West Hills, Calif.) and Josh Engel (Rice Lake, Wis.) recorded assists on Street’s 14:17 goal, while Klubertanz collected his second assist of the evening on Davies’ fifth goal on the year.

Three additional goals were scored in the final period of play to bring the game to a final score of 7-2 in Wisconsin’s favor. For DU, Kyle Ostrow scored from Chris Butler and Brock Trotter on a power-play goal, which was again reviewed by the referees.
