SI cover of Favre in Lambeau Field snow globe another hot seller

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Once again Packers quarterback Brett Favre is on the cover of Sports Illustrated -- and once again the magazine is flying off the shelves.

In the Green Bay area, Bosse's News & Tobacco had 1,000 copies on hand. Jim Smales of Green Bay was among about 100 people waiting in line there Thursday morning, hoping to get three issues.

He says his wife got him up at 5:00 Thursday morning so he'd be there.

There was similar demand last month after Sports Illustrated named Favre its 2007 athlete of the year. So many people clamored for that issue that the magazine had to do a second printing -- and then an unprecedented third printing.

Magazine spokeswoman Karen Dmochowsky says early sales figures for this issue aren't available. But she says she's not surprised by the demand after what happened last time.

We all know that Favre was named Sports Illustrated's sportsman of the year last month.

Now Favre will appear on the cover of SI again this week.

Here is an early look at the cover that will hit newsstands Thursday with national distribution on Friday.

38 year-old Favre has silenced critics who said he should have hung it up a couple of years ago.

His play has also inspired his younger teammates who know as long as number four is under center, green bay has a fighting chance.

Again, the magazine comes out Thursday so make sure you get your copy before it sells out.
