Claudio Vargas and the Milwaukee Brewers agreed today on a $3.6 million, one-year contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing.
The 29-year-old right-hander was 11-6 with a 5.09 ERA and one save last season, his first with Milwaukee. He made 23 starts and six relief appearances.
Three other Brewers have filed for arbitration: shortstop J.J. Hardy, right-hander Dave Bush and left-hander Chris Capuano.
