Kyle Turris had a goal and an assist, and Shane Connelly made 22 saves as No. 16 Wisconsin beat No. 17 Minnesota 3-1 in men's college hockey in Madison tonight.
Turris scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. The freshman finished off a second-period breakaway to put Wisconsin ahead 2-0.
Connelly made 14 saves in the second period for the Badgers (11-10-4, 7-8-2 Western Collegiate Hockey Association), who won for only the third time in their last nine games against the Gophers (12-11-4, 6-9-2).
Alex Kangas stopped 27 shots for Minnesota, which cut Wisconsin's lead to 2-1 late in the second period on a Blake Wheeler goal.
But the Badgers got the first 12 shots on goal of the third period and restored their two-goal lead when Ben Street put away a nice pass from behind the net by Michael Davies.
