72-67, Purdue beats Badgers at Kohl

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Freshman Robbie Hummel scored a career-best 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting as No. 24 Purdue upset No. 8 Wisconsin 72-67 tonight.

The win extends the Boilermakers' winning streak to nine.

Purdue hadn't beaten Wisconsin at home since 1996, a span of eight games.

But these Boilermakers were unfazed. Led by a pair of unflappable freshmen in Hummel and E'Twaun Moore, they became just the second Big Ten team in Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan's era to win in Madison.

Chris Kramer scored 12 points for Purdue and Moore added 11 points.

Wisconsin got 14 points a piece from Jason Bohannon and Michael Flowers. The Badgers also got 12 from Joe Krabbenhoft and 10 from Brian Butch.

The Badgers trailed by as many as 15 in the second half but closed to within three in the closing minutes.
