The WIAA boys hockey playoffs opened just the way Middleton wanted. They got a good test against a red hot DeForest team and emerged with a 4-0.
The second seeded Cardinals led 1-0 after one and never looked back.
Middleton advances to take on the winner of Monona Grove and Madison Memorial in the semifinals. Those teams play on Friday.
