Steve Stricker was pushed to 20 holes for the second straight day before he advanced. The Number-3 seed drained a birdie putt of just under 50 feet to eliminate Hunter Mahan.
Tiger Woods jumped in front early and went on to beat Arron Oberholser 3-and-2 to move into the third round at the Accenture Match Play Championship.
Unlike yesterday when he rallied from three holes down with five to play, Woods removed the suspense from his match with Oberholser early.
Stuart Appleby had the hot hand and sent Phil Mickelson packing 2-and-1. Appleby had nine birdies in his match.
