The 2007-2008 WIAA State Wrestling Tournament opened up with matches Thursday, and opened with a bang. In the D-1 ranks Tanner Klitzke (112, Stoughton), Matt Gaffney (130, Sauk Prairie), and Justin Garcia (135, Verona) were just some of the names to win 2 rounds, advancing to the semifinals. D-2 and D-3 started in the eveing. Lodi Senior Douglas Schutz scored a 1st round pin over Amery's Jared Nelson at 135 pounds.
