Edgewood Boys' Hockey falls 1 win short of state title

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Eau Claire Memorial put the finishing touches on a perfect season today, beating Madison Edgewood to win the 2008 WIAA Boys Hockey State Championship.

Eau Claire Memorial finishes the season 26-0.

The team scored in each period, beginning with Ryan Falch's power-play goal in the first. Hunter Scott and Jefferson Dahl added goals in each of the next two periods to give Eau Claire Memorial a 3-0 lead.

Cody Strang scored an unassisted power-play goal in the third period to help Madison Edgewood avoid the shutout.

Brady Sand had 22 saves for Eau Claire Memorial, while Brad Jerzewski had 41 for Edgewood.

Edgewood finishes with a record of 23-3.
