Two former Badgers competed in the finals of their respective events on the final day of the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., on Sunday.

Alonzo Moore, a 2006 graduate, finished 11th in the men’s triple jump at 52 feet, 7 ¼ inches. Aarik Wilson, a former Big Ten Conference champion from Indiana University, won the event at 57-2 ¼.

A 1999 UW graduate, Jenelle Deatherage placed 11th in the women’s 1500 meters in 4 minutes, 22.45 seconds. Nike’s Shannon Rowbury won the race in 4:05.48.

The top-three finishers in each event will compete in the 2008 Olympic Games, beginning on Aug. 8, in Beijing, China. Wisconsin will be represented on the track by Matt Tegenkamp, a 2005 graduate, in the men’s 5000 meters. Tegenkamp will compete in the first round on Aug. 20 with the final on Aug. 23.
