MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Marquette got its momentum going early, then held off Glendale Nicolet's rally and cruised to a second consecutive WIAA boys state volleyball title in Milwaukee today.

The Hilltoppers (29-1) beat the Knights, 25-14, 27-25, 25-17, for a fourth state title in five years and fifth in seven seasons.

In semifinals, Marquette beat Middleton, 22-25, 25-15, 27-25, 25-18, in a match between the state's top-ranked teams. Like its quarterfinal match, Marquette lost the first game before rolling from there.

Nicolet beat New Berlin United in the other semifinal to reach the state championship match for the first time in school history.
