Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP:
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers start a four-game series against the Cubs today after ending a nine-game homestand with a 1-0 loss to the struggling New York Mets. Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo had a career-high 12 strikeouts yesterday, but the Mets managed to break their five-game losing streak and avoid the sweep.
DETROIT (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the negotiations says the Detroit Pistons have agreed in principle to a contract with free agent Charlie Villanueva of the Milwaukee Bucks. NBA rules prohibit teams from announcing free agent signings until next week. Villanueva has played all three of his NBA seasons with the Bucks and reportedly agreed to a five-year deal.
