Wisconsin assistant men’s golf coach Brian Brodell captured a spot in the U.S. Bank Championship by winning a one hole playoff at the Birdies For Charity qualifier on Friday. Brodell, who will begin his third year as assistant coach for the Badgers in the fall, defeated Mike Johnson in the playoff to claim the spot. Both Brodell and Johnson shot 4-under-par total in regulation at the Brown Deer Golf Course in Milwaukee to reach the playoff. Brodell beat out 19 other WPGA members and apprentices for the spot in the U.S. Bank Championship. In order to be eligible for Friday’s event, each individual had to raise a minimum of $500 for junior golf. The 42nd annual U.S. Bank Championship takes place July 16-19 at the same course Brodell played on Friday. More information on the tournament can be found on the official Web site.
