Cubs Top Brewers

Catcher Jake Fox hit his second homer in two days to key a four-run sixth inning as the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers six-to-three today.

The Cubs also got another strong pitching performance from right-hander Jason Marquis. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez had an R-B-I double in the sixth.

Chicago scored a pair of unearned runs in the second inning against Brewers starter Claudio Vargas.

Vargas pitched three innings, giving up four hits and those two unearned runs.

Third baseman Craig Counsell was two-for-three for Milwaukee.

Kerry Wood pitched one scoreless inning in relief for the Cubs.
