It was hardly a perfect outing, but Chicago White Sox starter Jon Garland classified today's performance on the mound as his most comfortable of the spring.
Garland allowed seven hits and three earned runs over four innings as the White Sox beat Milwaukee 11-to-8 in the exhibition game in Tucson, Arizona.
Bill Hall singled home second baseman Hernan Iribarren to open the Milwaukee scoring in the first against Garland. Kevin Mench followed with a two-run double in the next at-bat, but Garland did not allow another run over the next three innings.
White Sox designated hitter Eduardo Perez delivered a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the first off Brewers starter Chris Capuano, but Perez strained his right calf rounding first base and was unable to make the full circuit.
Perez said he expects to be back on the field within the next few days.
