Jerry Kelly of Madison (Wisconsin) posted his best finish ever in a major golf tournament in the Masters during the weekend.
The 40-year old shot a final-round 70 yesterday and finished in a tie for fifth place with Justin Rose at four-over-par 292. That was three strokes behind winner Zach Johnson in the competition at Augusta, Georgia.
He previously had just two top-25 finishes in 27 major tournaments, although he'd won more than 14 million dollars in his career, finishing among the top 40 money winners five times in eleven years on the PGA Tour.
Kelly's previous best result in a major was a tie for 20th in both the 2002 and 2005 Masters. He's never had a top-25 finish in the U.S. Open, PGA Championship or British Open.
