Badger Men lose to Minnesota, split hockey series
Zach Budish had two goals and an assist and Tony Lucia added a goal at two assists as Minnesota beat Wisconsin 5-2 Saturday to earn a split of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Zach Budish had two goals and an assist and Tony Lucia added a goal at two assists as Minnesota beat Wisconsin 5-2 Saturday to earn a split of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Wisconsin won 4-2 on Friday.

Patrick White had a goal and an assist for the Golden Gophers (3-4-1, 3-4-1 WCHA), who snapped a three-game losing streak to the Badgers (4-3-1, 2-3-1).

Minnesota led 2-0 after one period despite being outshot 17-6. The Badgers enjoyed a 47-28 advantage in shots on goal, but Gophers' goalie Alex Kangas was up to the task with 45 saves.

Brett Bennett made 23 stops for Wisconsin.

Lucia assisted on Brian Schack's goal to extend the Gophers' lead to 4-1 in the third period.

Jake Gardiner and Ryan McDonagh scored for the Badgers. Craig Smith had two assists.
