Brewers claim Luis Cruz off waivers from Pittsburgh
Cruz, 25, batted .214 (15-for-70) with 2 RBI in 27 games during two stints with the Pirates last season.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Milwaukee Brewers today claimed infielder Luis Cruz off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Melvin.

Cruz, 25, batted .214 (15-for-70) with 2 RBI in 27 games during two stints with the Pirates last season. He started 18 games, including 14 starts at shortstop and four at second base. He made his first career Opening Day roster before being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on April 17, and returned to Pittsburgh on July 10, where he finished the season. Cruz batted .253 with 3 HR and 23 RBI in 66 games at Indianapolis.

With this move, the Brewers’ 40-man roster stands at 38 players.
