UW's Brooke Ammerman was named Offensive Player of the Week for the week

MADISON, Wis. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced sophomore Brooke Ammerman was named Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 16, 2009. The honor is Ammerman's first of the season.

Ammerman, a native of River Vale, N.J., had another impressive weekend, notching three scoring points in two WCHA road victories over Minnesota State, Mankato.

In last Friday's (Dec. 11) 3-0 win over the host Mavericks, Ammerman opened the game with Wisconsin's first two goals, marking her third multiple-goal game of the 2009-10 season. She also fired five shots on goal and was named the First Star of the Game. Ammerman has a team-leading 14 goals after the outing.

Ammerman then followed up with an assist on the eventual game-winning goal last Saturday (Dec. 12) in a 6-2 Wisconsin victory over Minnesota State which completed the two-game sweep for the Badgers.

Through 20 games played this season, Ammerman leads Wisconsin in scoring with 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists.

Also nominated for the award this week were: Erin Cody, F, BSU; Brittany Francis, F, UM; and Felicia Nelson, F, SCSU.
