A couple who locked the woman's 7-year-old son in his room at their Greenfield home while they went to a casino to watch Packers games last fall are sentenced to jail.
Melanie Hardrath's son was locked in his room with a bucket as a toilet while she and Scott Scherer went to the Potawatomi casino in Milwaukee for hours.
Hardrath's attorney suggested the judge lock the couple in a room with a bucket and make them watch a Bears game as punishment.
Instead Judge Jeffrey Wagner called the couple's actions "abhorrent" and ordered Hardrath to serve 7 months in jail. He gave Scherer, a former youth counselor, a 9-month sentence Monday.
