Here is the latest Wisconsin sports from The AP

PHOENIX (AP) -- Gabe Gross hit a grand slam to cap a five-run seventh inning as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-to-4 in Phoenix last night. J.J. Hardy was 3-for-4 with a run-scoring single and Rickie Weeks added an RBI triple for the Brewers, who now have won four of their last five games on the road. Milwaukee remains tied with the Chicago Cubs for first place in the National League's Central Division after the Cubs beat the Giants last night.

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Brewers face the Diamondbacks again tonight. Jeff Suppan starts for Milwaukee against Brandon Webb of the Diamondbacks. Webb will be trying to extend his string of scoreless innings that now is at 42, the 12th-longest in baseball history.

KOHLER, Wis. (AP) -- Mike Johnston shot a 1-over-par 73 but emerged from the soggy second round tied with Jim Schuman for the lead of the Wisconsin State Open golf tournament at Blackwolf Run. Johnston, a teaching pro from Milwaukee, and Schuman, a two-time state champion and golf coach at the University of Wisconsin, are tied at 2-under 142 heading into the 36-hole final today.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Packers coach Mike McCarthy says starting running back Vernand Morency will be sidelined for the team's preseason game against Jacksonville tomorrow night, but he's sure Morency will be ready for the regular season opener. Morency hurt his knee in the Packers' first practice of training camp and hasn't practiced or played since then.
